About Us

Community transport is a not for profit transport provision, run by the community, for the community. Whether it’s a journey you make every day or a one-off trip, community transport can help to get you where you need to be. Community transport is a crucial element of the transport network in North Yorkshire. It’s important for helping people to get to work, access services and see friends and family.

Thousands of journeys are made each year by people from all ages and walks of life, who have a transport need. This includes going to college, seeing friends or visiting the shops. Many operators are also able to accommodate specific access requirements.

Go Local is an overarching brand for community transport in North Yorkshire. Jointly designed by community transport organisations and North Yorkshire Council, the aim of the brand is to help raise awareness of community transport, to change perceptions, and increase the usage of the service throughout North Yorkshire.

Our Promise

By using a Go Local transport organisation, you can be safe in the knowledge that your local provider is meeting certain quality and safety standards. Go Local is not just a brand, it’s a sign of quality!

In order to display the Go Local brand, each provider signs up to a comprehensive set of policies and procedures covering everything from DBS checks and driver training, to data protection and health and safety.

You can be confident that when you see the brand, you can enjoy a quality service right across the County, whether that be using a community car, minibus or moped.

If you would like to see the full written policies that your local operators hold, please contact them directly.
